News
Has it been a month already?
Wow -
Time flies when you have a lot on your plate. My lack of updates here though can be summed up in one word. Cancer. I was recently diagnosed with Cancer, and I am on it full time right now, beating this evil disease. You can read more here: It explains th whole back story, and the current day to day fight. I am currently keeping that one updated, with the new news of what’s going on and how things are progressing. There are good days, and bad days, I am praying for tons more of the good ones of course!
I also know that through this site, you can donate to help out if you want, and get some Team Emmett wristbands (much like I use when I play drums or percussion) and I think T-shirts even. Soon there are rumors of a full length mix CD of tunes that I have played on being available if you want to grab one. Anyways. I will swing by here as much as possible to keep you all updated, and hopefulyl let you know when I am going to be working on another project soon. I have one or two, that are in the works, or were, when I got tossed in the hospital, so i am hoping to get back to those and to start swinging at those a little more hard core!
Glad to see you all here again, and I look forward to catching up with you soon!
Mid February busyness
Greetings once more to everyone!
So I have had quite the full week so far, and it just seems to be getting fuller! Today was some more tracking here at my studio, The Vault, with my good friend Adam Silverman which always makes for a fun day! Yesterday I had tons of fun tracking down at The Sound Office again, working some more on Mosaic’s new record, which is coming together quite well! And earlier this week, I shot and recorded my audition video for Addison Road! Talk about fun times!! I must say, it’s a little nerve wracking to go on camera, and play some tunes, and give a short two minute interview, knowing that the impression they are taking away of me comes from those short five minutes! YIKES! It was all tons of fun though, and I really enjoyed it. You can check out my submission by clicking here. And you can check out all of the submissions by clicking here .
I have been loving this new snare I got as well, It has performed super well during tracking all week!
Hopefully I’ll have some more good news to send your way soon, maybe a little sneak peek at some of the things that have been cooking on the back burners here too !
cheers!
New Snares, Piles of sessions, and SNOW!
So in the last couple of weeks, a lot has happened! I have been working on some of the fun new developments for this year (which only time will reveal those!), I played a couple of sessions, gigged a little in town, I bought a new snare, and it snowed. In reverse order . . .
Snow is a rare thing here, so when we get it, it’s awesome. I will admit, being in the south and being ill prepared for it, makes for some easily ’snowed in’ scenarios. I had to shovel our driveway, and a chunk of the street we live on so we could get out. Even so, it snowed friday, we finally got out on monday – but it was tons of fun !
I recently acquired a 6.5 x 14 Risen Drums (black beauty style) brass snare. It has the cool tube style lug casings on them, trix throw off, and I put on a 42 strand snare wire. it sounds killer! Sessions and gigs have been rolling along as normal, and I am loving all the playing that I am getting to do. It’s so awesome! between that, practicing, and working on secret underground things, it stays busy here! HopefullY I’ll have a few pictures up soon of my snares. I love them all
cheers!
Kicking off the new year with some jams!
So this week is session week! Today I got to work with some great cats here at The Vault. My friend David Spencer was here tracking some drums on a project he is working on (and it sounds KILLER!) more on that soon. Elenowen’s Debut album dropped today, and I was blessed to have the opportunity to play on one of the tracks. If you haven’t heard this disc yet, check it out! It is REALLY incredible!! My buddy spencer also produced their album.
Tomorrow I swinging the sticks and rocking the skins down at The Sound Office with my good pal Daniel Mixer. We’ll be working on the new album for Mosaic. I so can’t wait!!
Later this week I get to hang out with my good friend Adam Silverman, and lay down some more killer tracks here at The Vault. Trust me, This is going to be one SLAMMING week, and I am so looking forward to it!
Check back soon to see what else happens in the coming months!
New Tunes in the Player for 2010 !!
Welcome to 2010 !! I’m coming off of a good holiday break and I am gearing up for this coming year. I have lots of fun projects in the hopper, so make sure you check back in now and then and see what’s cooking But first up, I have added new tracks on the Audio page for you to take a listen to. These were all just recently tracked this past year and trust me, there is some smoking good talent represented in these tunes. Make sure you scroll through all of them, there are more than will show up upon first glance!
Cheers!!
Wrapping up the end of 2009
Well,
It has been a hectic last couple of weeks. I have been busy playing sessions here in Nashville, doing some more tracking out of The Vault, and in the middle of it all, I also played in my church’s Christmas Service. It was awesome as always! I got the opportunity once again to perform with the talented Jessica Roadcap, and I am so honored every time I get the chance to share the stage with her. I am wrapping things up here this week, with a lot of meetings, and a lot of end of the year inventory of my gear, making small repairs, etc. It’ll be nice to take a little break before 2010 cranks up. I am so looking forward to making some more music next year!
Stick around for more updates soon on some killer gear that I have recently picked up!
Jessica Roadcap and more . . .
Last night I got the chance to perform with singer/songwriter Jessica Roadcap at the Douglas Cafe here in Nashville, Tn. It was awesome! Definitely check out her stuff, it is so amazingly good! and if you get a chance to catch her live, it’s even better! Next week I’ll be playing with Mosaic at their christmas CD release show. It’ll be a slammer of a show, so stay tuned for more details!
New gear and looking towards 2010 !
I can’t believe that 2010 is almost here, so unreal! I just came off another great weekend playing with Dave Hunt, and leading worship with him in Ocean City, Maryland. It was an incredible weekend, and tons of fun! This week everything is kicked into high gear, charting tunes for three different gigs, and setting up rehearsals and practice time for them all! Just when you think it gets easy . . .
In addition to sharing the stage with some incredible talent this month, I also picked up a new tambourine, which ROCKS! I also added two brake drums to my collection, which I think have some killer potential. I am super excited about getting to track with these in the near future hopefully. I can’t wait to hear them in the mix!
Check back soon for some dates where I’ll be playing out near you !
Tons of work, and some new snare drum sounds!
It has been a busy month here! I have been playing lots of sessions in town, a couple at The Sound Office, and a lot of sessions out of The Vault here at my house. It has been super fun, playing on lots of great tunes! In addition to all the tracking I also have been doing some refurb work on various snare drums that I own, and, not to mention, acquiring some more snares!
In the last couple of weeks I worked on a chrome over brass 1970’s era Slingerland snare, a 6.5×14, and a chrome over steel 6.5×14 Pearl snare. They both sound incredible! I have tracked with both of them almost exclusively this on just about everything this past month, they’re just that versatile! I also acquired a late 1970’s Ludwig Acrolite 5×14 snare. I have been hunting for one of these snares for a while now and finally got my paws on one, and I am loving it! Check back soon for more updates!
Tracking, practicing, and playing with Micah Dalton.
Wow. Once more another week flew by amid a flurry of various drumming activities. I did some more tracking down at The Sound Office, did some more tracking here at The Vault, and then booked it to Atlanta for an early Saturday morning rehearsal with Micah Dalton. We jammed out saturday night in Brunswick, Ga, played a great show, and now here I am back in Nashville once again. This week is shaping up to be jam-packed as well, lots of meetings this week, rehearsals, some more tracking and a weekend run with Dave Hunt. So check back often, drop me a line, follow me on twitter! cheers!
A full week of tracking -
This past week has been slammed here in Nashville for me. I got to put my home studio through the ringer, laying down some pop drums for Ellenowen and then laying some country swing feel grooves for a demo project. I also spent a day and a half down at The Sound Office (http://www.thesoundoffice.com) tracking some country tunes for Kenzie Hruby. All in all, it has been a very full week!
It looks like this week is going to be full of sessions and rehearsals too! I’m so excited to be doing what I love all the time. It rocks !
