Biography

triowhEmmett Stallings is an experienced percussionist who has played his way around the world.  Whether on the drum set in France, teaching ethnic percussion seminars in Mexico, or doing session work in Nashville, Emmett’s versatility allows him to adapt to any genre. His solid grooves on the set are complemented by rich background percussion, making him a first call on many producers’ lists.

The studio provides the perfect outlet for Emmett’s creative mind.  From the drum set to toy pianos, he employs a wide array of instruments to tailor each song to its artist.  Producers and artists alike have complemented Emmett’s skill on ethnic instruments as well as his ingenuity with household items.

In addition to numerous studio recordings, Emmett has spent the last two and a half years touring with The Ranchhands, a modern country band based out of Nashville, TN.   Playing in sold out venues around the world including; France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Albania, Latvia, Austria and the United States, Emmett’s solid time and consistent performance helps fuel energetic shows night after night.  This summer, Emmett is returning to Europe with The Ranchhands after finishing up a month long run in the states. He will be working with several artists on various full length records before starting a fall tour with the Canadian Singer/Songwriter Jana Keeley.

On the road Emmett tours with a maple Cadeson five piece kit, utilizing a 12’’ rack, double floor toms (14’’, 16’’) 20’’ kick and a maple 14’’x5’’ snare. He also uses Sabian Cymbals, Tama hardware and DW pedals. He currently endorses Mono Cases, Audix Microphones, Treeworks Chimes, Etymotic Research, AbletonLive and SwirlyGig.

Emmett holds a bachelor of arts in music from Furman University and has studied privately with Dr. Williams at Winthrop University on numerous world percussion instruments. He has been playing professionally in Nashville for the last five years, before which he was based out of Greenville, SC where he was a drum line instructor, a private drum teacher, a guest clinician, and author of a drum set instruction book.

Artists and producers continue to call Emmett because his versatility, focus, and skill make him easy to work with, guaranteeing a high level of performance. Emmett’s diverse training gives him a wealth of experience and skill in any setting.
